the EVOLUTION of an INDUSTRY...Walton Media is the product of the evolution of a business over the past century.
A proud legacy that continues to this day. In 1906...The local newspaper, The Walton Tribune, began publication in Monroe and was, acquired by publisher/printer Ernest Camp in 1906. When Ernest Camp died in 1957, his sons Ernest Camp, Jr., and Sanders Camp took the reigns of the business, and the company continued to grow and gain recognition in the industry. Ernest Camp, Jr., was a career advertising executive and columnist who retired to Monroe in 1971 to work with brother Sanders Camp, who was a decorated WWII veteran and retired Brigadier General in the Georgia National Guard. Sanders Camp was publisher of the newspaper and, like his father, served as president of the Georgia Press Association and was inducted post-humously into the Georgia Newspaper Hall of Fame at the Henry W. Grady School of Journalism at the Univesity of Georgia. In 1976...The newspaper was sold, and the resulting publication and commercial printing company, Walton Press, Inc., was soon under the direction of Sanders Camp’s son, Randolph W. Camp. Randy has served as Chairman of the Board of the Printing Industry Association of Georgia as well as Board Chairman of Printing Industries of America, Inc., representing over 14,000 companies throughout North America. In 1997...The publication printing division of Walton Press, Inc., was sold to Network Communications in 1997. The commercial printing division is now Walton Media Services, Inc., doing business as Walton Media under the ownership of Randolph W. Camp. Print communications technology has dramatically changed over the past decade, and the skilled veteran employees of Walton Media have embraced the digital age. From the days of handset type in the early 1900’s, the company today provides award-winning design and printing as well as mailing and fulfillment services. Taking the latest digital technology employed in printing applications to the next level, Walton Media also develops Internet web sites and other multi-media tools. |
